Former Partner, Finance & Operations (departed April 2026)
AirTree Ventures (Web3)Check size: Not applicable. Helen is no longer at AirTree and her historical mandate was finance and operations, not a personal Web3 check-writing practice. Current founders should use AirTree's current investment team and published fund channels; operational peers should treat her record as experience, not present firm authority.
Helen's contribution was building an institutional venture platform around the investors and founders: fund finance, governance, compliance, systems, LP relationships, organization and shared learning for portfolio finance leaders. She has highlighted the 'returning entrepreneur' flywheel, where successful founders recycle proceeds and experience into the next generation, and the under-networked position of startup CFOs, addressed through peer forums. This is a fund-building and ecosystem thesis rather than a personal Web3 investment thesis.
Open, candid collaboration; fast-moving work that spans founders, investors, teams and industry development; repeat entrepreneurs who reinvest capital and knowledge; finance leaders learning from one another; institutional infrastructure that lets an investment platform scale responsibly; and a healthy Australian private-capital ecosystem.
No personal startup investment pass list or deal portfolio is published. Current AirTree opportunities should not be routed to her. In the operating context, weak governance, opaque reporting, fragmented systems, poor investor communication, isolated CFOs and failure to invest in compliance or team infrastructure are contrary to the platform she built.
Do not pitch Helen as a current AirTree or Web3 investor. AirTree's current team page is the source of truth for investment outreach. A relevant peer or operating conversation would center on fund scale, financial and governance architecture, LP reporting, organizational design, compliance, systems and portfolio-CFO learning, with the exact problem, current process, control gap and desired outcome made clear.
Scale a venture firm by building finance, governance, legal/compliance, LP relations, data, IT, people and executive-support systems alongside the investment function.
Encourage founders with successful exits to recycle capital, pattern recognition and networks into the next generation of companies.
Create a recurring trusted peer group for otherwise isolated finance leaders to exchange operating lessons and solve common scaling problems.
Treat departure reporting plus absence from the firm's current roster as stronger evidence than stale directories that still show an active partner title.

“None of it felt like work, because I genuinely loved what we were building and who I was building it with.”
